Panel Flow privacy information
Privacy Policy
How Panel Flow handles information on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Scope and contact
This policy applies to Panel Flow for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. It describes the app and the choices you make when using its optional online features.
For privacy questions or requests, contact sciasxp@gmail.com.
Your library and files
The library, reading activity, preferences, and imported or downloaded comic files are kept on your device for normal app use. Panel Flow does not send comic page images or file contents to a Panel Flow-operated content server.
Some features connect directly to services you choose, as described below. Those services receive the requests needed to provide the feature.
- When you enable iCloud library sync, Panel Flow sends library records to your private iCloud database: publication and chapter titles and metadata, source identifiers, reading status and position, dates, reading-direction settings, collection names and rules, and collection membership/order.
- The sync records do not contain comic or page image file bytes. iCloud sync is optional and off until you enable it in the app. Apple processes iCloud data under your Apple Account and Apple privacy terms.
Optional analytics
Analytics is off by default. If you turn it on in Settings → Privacy, Panel Flow sends usage and reliability events to TelemetryDeck. You can turn it off at any time in the same setting; that stops future app events from being sent. It does not remove events already received by the provider.
Events use predefined action names and limited categories, such as feature or operation type, result, and coarse duration or page-count ranges. They do not include comic titles, chapter titles, page content, file names, URLs, search text, account tokens, or free-form error messages.
The TelemetryDeck SDK also sends a pseudonymous identifier scoped to an app installation, event time rounded to the nearest hour, and technical app/device details such as app version, operating-system version, and device type. A network request necessarily reaches TelemetryDeck from your connection; TelemetryDeck states that it does not store IP addresses. See TelemetryDeck’s Privacy FAQ and Privacy Policy. As of September 28, 2026, its FAQ says there is no fixed deletion schedule for cold-storage events and estimates 7–10 years without guaranteeing that period.
Analytics is used to understand app usage and reliability, not for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Online sources and account integrations
If you browse or search an online catalog, use an OPDS catalog, or connect a Komga, Kavita, or other server, the selected provider receives the request and the network information needed to answer it. Searches may contain the text you enter. Each provider controls its own handling and retention.
If you turn on new chapter alerts in Settings → Notifications, Panel Flow checks the online sources of the series you follow for new chapters (in the background on iPhone and iPad, and whenever the app becomes active on Mac). Those providers receive the same kind of requests as when you browse them. Personal servers are not checked. The alerts are local notifications created on your device, not push notifications sent from a server.
If you connect AniList or MyAnimeList, authentication tokens are stored in the operating-system Keychain. When you search, link a title, or sync reading status, the relevant query, selected title, account authorization, or progress is sent directly to that service. AniList and MyAnimeList apply their own privacy policies. Panel Flow does not include these values in its analytics events.
Optional voice from OpenAI
If you add your own OpenAI API key and choose the OpenAI voice, Panel Flow sends the text to be read aloud, together with the selected voice and speed, to OpenAI (api.openai.com) to generate speech. The key is stored in the operating-system Keychain and is sent only to OpenAI. The generated audio is cached on your device.
OpenAI processes the request under its own terms and privacy policy, and usage is billed to your OpenAI account. This feature is off until you add a key. Panel Flow does not include this text in its analytics events. Reading aloud with Apple’s built-in speech does not use OpenAI.
Apple system features and purchases
When you use Apple-provided features such as translation, speech, or system intelligence, the relevant text or other input is processed by the Apple framework and platform configuration used for that feature. Processing and availability can vary by operating-system version and settings. Review Apple’s Privacy Policy and your device settings.
Apple handles App Store transactions and related account information. Panel Flow does not receive your Apple Account password or payment-card details.
Your choices and data management
You can keep analytics off or disable it in Settings → Privacy. You can disable iCloud sync in the app and manage iCloud storage through Apple’s settings. You can turn off new chapter alerts in Settings → Notifications. You can delete library items or files using the app and your device’s file controls.
To disconnect AniList or MyAnimeList, sign out in Panel Flow; you can also revoke the app’s authorization with the service. Data already sent to a third-party service or iCloud is subject to that provider’s controls and retention rules. Contact us for questions about a support email you sent.
This website and support
These policy pages are static and do not load advertising, analytics scripts, web fonts, or embedded third-party content. The site is hosted by GitHub Pages; GitHub may process connection data under its privacy statement.
If you email support, the information in your message and reply is processed by the email providers involved so we can respond. Please do not include passwords, access tokens, or comic files unless support specifically asks for a safe diagnostic sample.
Changes
We may update this policy when app features or data handling change. The date at the top of this page identifies the latest revision.
